The Walk for the Babies, Saturday, October 7, is a 5K walk-a-thon for the care of drug-affected infants at Pediatric Interim Care Center. T-shirt pick-up and face painting will open at 9 a.m. on the plaza of the Kent Station Shopping Center. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. The route will go past PICC on 4th
Avenue and then complete a loop on the Interurban Trail, ending back at Kent Station for a chowder feed at Duke's and the awarding of prizes.
There is no registration fee to sign up here, but we ask that every walk-a-thon participant (excluding children) raise a minimum of $25.00 for the babies at PICC. To participate, go to the sign-up tab at left and establish your personal walk-a-thon account on this site. You can then receive donations, see who has supported you, and compete for fundraising prizes. Adult participants receive a free Walk for the Babies t-shirt. On-site registration at the event will be $25 for adults and free for children (under 18).
The walk-a-thon will raise critically needed funds for the care of newborns withdrawing from prenatal drug exposures at Pediatric Interim Care Center in Kent. PICC is the only facility in Washington State providing 24-hour specialized nursing care for drug-affected and medically fragile infants.
PICC extends special thanks to Kent Station, Duke’s Chowder House, and Road Runner Sports for hosting the Walk for the Babies, and to Mutual of Enumclaw Insurance and M & M Construction, Grand Sponsors; Commencement Bank, Gold Sponsor; and Virginia Sweiberg, Silver Sponsor.
